Producing 2d animation video can be a fantastic way to familiarise viewers with your product.
Whether you’re trying to explain a complicated concept or create a promotional video, 2D animation has endless possibilities that can benefit your brand and drive more traffic to your website.
We’ve become entrenched in animation video production in the past few years, as more of our clients are looking for innovative ways to promote their services.
2D animation is flexible and had broad appeal. Voice overs can be recorded in multiple languages and images can be repurposed and used in short form content or social media posts.
Working with an animation video production company will help you create a style that’s right for your brand and ensure that the whole process runs smoothly.
Working with an animation video production company
For a successful animated video marketing campaign, we always recommend to our clients to spend time on the script to ensure it has a good opening line to hook the audience’s attention and goes on to explain your product or service in a few simple steps. We often help our clients draft scripts that are clear, concise and impactful.
Communication is an essential part of video marketing and an extension of your brand identity. That’s why getting the tone of voice right is key.
We have some helpful pointers on tone of voice here.
Style Frame Stage
When working with a production company, you’ll most likely receive some style frames. These images will be based on your company’s brand assets and marketing goals. This process is designed to give the client an indication of what the video might look like and to work together on making any stylistic choices for the video.
You may have some example images and reference videos that would be helpful to share with your production team to ensure everyone is on the same page in terms of style and tone.
The next step is typically the storyboard phase, where your production team mocks up a scene-by-scene breakdown of the video. This typically pairs the script with the visuals, so it’s an important step and not one to be rushed.
The storyboard will make the foundation of your animation. Making changes once the video has been animated can be lengthy (and therefore expensive) so if you’re eager to keep to your deadlines we always suggest double checking the storyboard to make sure it includes everything you want and that you’re completely happy with the narrative and visual journey.
Once you’re happy to sign off the storyboard it’s down to the animators to bring your story to life!
We love sharing early drafts with our clients, but we always stress that first cuts are not the finished product! For instance, we often record a basic voice over by one of our staff members as a placeholder until we receive the final version recorded by the professional voice over artist selected for the film. So we like to manage expectations whilst also involving our clients in every step of the process.
Most likely, your video production company will offer you a number of amends, which gives you the opportunity to ask for some changes. To keep costs low and avoid multiple rounds of amends, we recommend that companies pool all feedback from team members. This avoids confusion when the animator comes around to making the edits and helps keep your video on track to meet the deadline.
How do I make my animation stand out from the crowd?
Music and sound effects is a key feature to your animation and helps to deliver your message. Your video production company may offer you some clips to choose from. When you hear the music layered on top of your video you’ll really notice how this helps to elevate your animated video and keep viewer attention.
If you’re looking for ways to help your video have that extra “pizazz” why not consider some exciting, uplifting music that suits your brand’s tone and gives the video extra energy.
Animating is a long and detailed process and our in house team put heart and soul into every project. Animated video is a real labour of love and can be a noticeable feature on your website and help you stand out from your competition.
What about distribution?
When considering a distribution strategy, our advice is to invest in some edits to make short form content for social media. We like to call this “tent peg” content that leads audiences to your primary “tent pole” film on your website. Teaser content can be enough to hook your audience and send them to your landing page.
In general, hosting video on your website will help to boost your SEO and increase traffic to your website so investing in video can have great ROI.
Animation is a unique asset to your brand, and one that’s safe to produce during a pandemic. So, if you’re looking for a way to increase sales and spread the word about your company, let’s have a chat about how 2D animation can help you.
